#Juneathon: Day 26 – Old Memories and a Pub Tea

Tonight we went to the pub for tea. It’s been that long since we last had a pub tea, everything had changed. They had a concierge (of sorts) who was very loud and pally with the regulars, new seating and wallpaper, a brand new menu and a whole rack of shiny new beer pumps. Unfortunately they had no food, as two of the three meals we ordered were out of stock. But that’s the price you pay for dining late I guess. Still the quality was adequate and the food arrived quickly, which was the point of the visit!

We were late because we were registering for the Corporate Games which are being held tomorrow at Trentham Gardens! For this we had to go and queue at Staffordshire University and register. There were loads of executive cars whose keepers had ignored the parking regs, lots of testosterone and japing about, the pungent aroma of day-old aftershave and much ‘downing’ going on in the Union bar (where me and Mrs Trenthamfolk hadn’t been for 15 years – lots of fuzzy memories there). Tomorrow’s 10K may be quite a spectacle!

Tomorrow I am in the ‘athlete’ camp (calling myself an athlete always make me laugh) and the Mrs and Junior are marshalling (AKA awesome volunteers) so it will be another full day tomorrow. My #Juneathon run tonight consisted of me running along with Junior on his new bike. He is now on an adult bike and needs to practice staying upright. As such my route may resemble a tin of spaghetti (Movescount), but it got done and that’s all that counts.
