#Juneathon: Day 18 – Hanley Park Hundred

There she blows, 100 #Juneathon miles in the bag… I’m pleased as punch. Tonight’s club run was Hanley Park, the longest of the summer runs, but also one of the flattest. It follows the Trent and Mersey Canal four miles northwards before branching east, onto the Caldon Canal towards the park, before we spear off and run through Staffs University campus to rejoin the Trent & Mersey for the final 3 miles… 9 brisk miles in total (Movescount).

Although it was a sunny evening, the wind blew chilly up at the club as I waited for the middle paced group to assemble, so I was keen to get going. The group was a small one but nice and evenly paced. Some of the faster legs were tired from recent races and others were in long-distance training mode. Once we got going the combination of the warm summer air and the steady breeze was great for running and we made good time.

I didn’t expect to get to my hundred today, but once back at club I saw that I was only 0.4 miles so off, so off I went to make them up. I’m a little OCD like that.
