#Juneathon: Day 17 – Shugborough Relays

This evening we made a mad family dash to the Shugborough Relays, and annual relay event held at the historic Shugborough Hall and hosted by our friends, neighbours and arch rivals, the Stafford Harriers. It is a 2 mile multi-terrain course where runners of all abilities, where juniors and seniors alike share the same space. Trentham RC had 17 teams this year, a great turn out!

Both me and Mrs Trenthamfolk were ‘B’ leg runners… Junior was a ‘C’ leg runner… and we all agree that the course was a tough one. It was flat but grassy, paved, gritty and gravelly underfoot… over bridges and through flower beds, round hairpins, up and down fields and all in the shadow the of the great hall. Each and every runner that came in looked totally worn out after only 2 miles (Movescount).

It was clearly worth the effort as my team won the ‘Best Team Name’ prize ‘Lean, Green, Bald and Mean’! A fairly accurate description… then we then queued for 20 minutes to get Junior an ice cream. No official results are available yet, but we also agree it was a great evening all round.
