#Juneathon 2015: Day 2 – Chippy Tea

Tonight was club run and Mrs Trenthamfolk’s training night. Therefore we were set for an evening of parental tag-team. I knew I had to dash home from work and get a quick #Juneathon run in before collecting Junior from the club at just before senior training started. I arrived home, said “Hi” then dashed out for a quick 3 miles (Movescount). By the time I returned Junior was at training, so I got down to preparing supper and buttering bread in preparation for chippy tea.

Chippy tea is a newly created tradition at Trentham Running Club. The first Tuesday of every month, the members collect in the bar to eat locally sourced chips wrapped in freshly buttered bread, sip on a pint of something wet, and have a natter. I am responsible for the bread. Buttering a hundred rounds or so is no mean feat, still the child was bathed, fed and and dressed (not necessarily in that order) and I was buttered and ready for when Mrs Trenthamfolk returned… I gave her a kiss and headed back up to the club to feed the hungry athletes.

You’d have thought they never get fed the way they devoured the lot… and who could blame them, it was a warm one tonight and had all given maximum effort. After a quick chat with the chairman and a cheeky pint, I finally managed to get home, say goodnight to my now sleeping son, and write this blog. I still haven’t seen Mrs Trenthamfolk as she is now in the bath… but I guess we have the rest of our lives to catch up!
