#Janathon Day 30: Idle Legs

Today I blasted through my previous #Janathon and #Juneathon records and clocked up a new personal best distance in a month… 187 miles! And I still have a day left… I also recorded a first and went for a sports massage, just fur fun. It was painfully pleasurable, if that can be. I had knots in my calf’s, scar tissue from a historic torn hamstring I never knew I’d torn, as well as tight IT bands… 36 years of stress has been pummeled out of my lower limbs and and now my legs feel all floppy, which is distinctly better than them having a mind of their own.

Tonight I ran seven miles by accident (Runkeeper). I intended to do six but I felt so good I found myself turning corners and extending my run on auto-pilot. I didn’t really think about it, my legs just took me. It can be quite disconcerting, not knowing where you’re going to end up. This morning for example, I parked on a car park I normally use when I want to pop to the shop on the way to work. Three minutes later I found myself wandering around ASDA looking like a baffled old man… I left empty handed and embarrassed, followed by security guards. Those idle legs leading me astray again…
