#Janathon Day 9: Clear Skies, Cracking Run

I saw something unusual tonight. No, it wasn’t an honest politician, nor a helpful traffic warden… it was a big yellow gritter. Despite the pouring rain that delighted me last night (but has brought such misery to our friends on the coast) it has been unseasonably warm of late. I recall last #Janathon it was at least 10 degrees cooler, if not more, and I was pegging it about in the ice and snow. No such joys this year. Tonight the clouds parted, the starts were out and the temperature was falling. A cracking night for a run.

Today we did Blurton anti-clockwise, a hilly run in parts, but with it’s fair share of flatness to balance out the burn. The group was smaller than usual, and we made good pace as we dashed along, chatting merrily as we did. We covered more distance than I anticipated, clocking up almost exactly 8 miles (Runkeeper) amd was a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a January evening. And for a change, it’s starting to feel a bit like winter. #Janathon 2014 is progressing well: I’m averaging just under 6 miles a day and feeling great.
