#Juneathon Day 6 – Short But Sweet

Like this post, tonight’s run was short, but sweet… In prep for Potters ‘Arf, Crazy Walt took us on a short flat run of six miles, initially off road through Hem Heath Woods, and back up the canal. A moment of comedy was provided by Phil (aka @6TownsRunner) when, as we hopped around some mud, he pronounced “what’s wrong with everyone!” and took the plunge… ankle deep, he was lucky to save his shoe, and ran the remaining 4 miles with a wet, brown foot.

Here he is looking decidedly unimpressed… He-he 🙂

The woods have transformed over the last few weeks, from a skeletal representation of woodland, to a lush green and dense wilderness that dampens the sound of the outside world. They allow you to forget that you’re still within the limits of a big dirty city, and offer shade from the 24 degree sun, hence are a welcome addition to any run. The bluebells are on their way out, but the leaves are in full swing with plenty of blossom still hanging about. Lovely.

Today was another hot one, but I’m feeling more comfortable with running in the heat. Despite a little tightness in my upper legs/groin, and calves, I’m loving #Juneathon so far.
