Janathon 2013: Day 24 – Tired, I Am

The hardest part of running through snow is the hidden dips… It’s a bit like when you go to pick up a heavy object, only to find out it weighs next to nothing. You stride forward, expecting your foot to land at the point of your trajectory, but it keeps on going… you land off balance, and all sorts of muscular havoc breaks loose. Ouch.

Today went pelting around another golf course, and made a mess of the virgin snow on the fairways. Nothing else had ventured out there as far as we could tell, apart from foxes, who’s tracks were everywhere. I’m sure the members won’t be happy, as we weren’t wearing silly trousers or Pringle jumpers in ‘rose pink’. Those public rights of way don’t half wind them up.

Anyway, 6.6 miles (Runkeeper) of almost total off road through 8″ of snow have finished me off, and I am ready for bed. Night all… x

Even worse if you think you’re about to crunch on a light dusting of crunchy snow above a pavement slab only to have you ventilated shoe break through ice into a frozen puddle….
